Our journey continued downstream through open meadows until we reached Wallingford. Unfortunately the moorings here were not as plentiful and had to be paid for, but an immaculately presented launderette just five minutes walk away from the boat was extremely conveniently as was the Waitrose store right in the centre of the town.
Another splendid town hall, but not quite as large and magnificent as Abingdon’s and although Wallingford is smaller than its neighbour it felt much more affluent, but both towns had a wealth of wonderful old buildings.
